The Red Hat Society, a playgroup for women approaching 50 and beyond, is celebrating its milestone 20th Anniversary this year. The local chapter, known as the Wood River Rockers, are hosting a 20th Anniversary celebration on May 4, 5, 6 in Assiniboia at the Prince of Wales Cultural Center. There will be Red Hat Society Members from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario registered to be in attendance.

Registrations are open to the 20th anniversay celebration, so that any newcomers from the local area who might be interested in “coming out to play” can participate in the special anniversary. The Wood Rivers Rockers are presently hoping to partner with local vendors, organizations and businesses to create a “Scavenger Hunt” for visitors.

Local residents are also asked “save the date” and come out and showcase how The Red Hat Society is changing the lives of women locally.  Red Hat Society Members are part of a worldwide movement to spread joy, while supporting women in a positive and life changing way.

The Red Hat Society began with the gift of a red hat (now found in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History) and has grown into a universal symbol for women around the globe as they victoriously celebrate turning 50 and entering into the next phase of their lives. The social message behind the red hat has resonated with millions of women around the globe regardless of race, creed, occupation, age or socio-economic status. Today, it is commonplace to see Red Hat Society Members frolicking and embracing life with their Sisters as they continue to change the perception of maturing women in today’s culture.

For more information on the 20th anniversary, or to register to paricipate, interested residents can contact  Jodi Faith, Member of The Red Hat Society. Her email is [email protected].
