The route for the Estevan truck convoy protest on Saturday has been decided upon.

All participants are to muster by 11:30 a.m. at the new Bert Baxter yard, near the northeast corner of the truck bypass. This can be reached either by taking the exit towards Estevan from the bypass’ northeast curve, or by turning north off of Highway 39 at Sawyer Safety.

The convoy will leave the Baxter yard, turn north and then east, proceeding to the truck bypass. At the bypass, the convoy will turn south, going past the PetroCanada truck stop to the Shand Road/Highway 39 intersection at Cervus Peterbilt.

Turning west onto Highway 39/Fourth Street, the convoy will pass straight through the centre of Estevan, past the Court House and City Hall, where a rally is also scheduled. It will go all the way to KFC.

At KFC, the convoy will turn north on Sister Roddy Road, cross the railway tracks, and immediately turn east onto King Street.

The convoy will go down the length of King Street to Living Hope Community Church, where it will turn south onto Kensington Avenue. It will go down the length of Kensington Avenue and the disperse from there. If participants wish to return to the Baxter yard, to visit or for coffee, they may.

Darryl “Buzz” Shirley of Bert Baxter Transport is one of the organizers. He said, “This convoy is to support the energy sector, the people of Saskatchewan, the people of Alberta, the people of Canada. If you have any concerns with the current state of affairs, I would encourage you to join. If you have a semi, a half ton, or even a Prius, come out and support the people of Canada.”

“We would love to have you in our convoy.”
