Spruce Ridge School had one of its busiest days on Friday, when hundreds of excited kids, accompanied by their parents and younger siblings, stopped by for a free barbecue lunch.
The school traditionally runs the event over the afternoon hours to ensure that more people can make it.
Days like that allow kids to make their return to school after the summer break a positive experience.
They can drop off their backpacks prior to the first day, meet their teachers and tour the building and the premises together with their parents, which helps a lot of them to overcome the anxiety.
