To recognize outstanding safety performance at the company's Weyburn operations, Cenovus Energy Inc. recognized seven companies on May 13 at McKenna Hall.

Fauser Energy Inc., Industrial Electric and Instrumentation Ltd., United Centrifige Ltd., Diamond Two Oilfield Supervision Ltd., G.E. Peterson Consulting & Inspections Ltd., Newman Oilfield Supervision and RTC Oilfield Consulting Ltd. have all received the Cenovus Safety Stewardship Award for their leadership in health and safety, ethical business conduct and community responsibility.

"Working at Cenovus means working safely and the companies we've recognized have gone above and beyond," said Allan Greeves, Manager, Weyburn. "At Cenovus, safety is a core value and we operate according to a set of strong values promoting excellence in health and safety performance. We strive to find ways to get better, every day."

Cenovus staff members nominate companies and winners are chosen by a selection committee appointed by the Cenovus Operations Health & Safety team. The selection committee looks for evidence that the contractor has demonstrated leadership by finding innovative ways to promote safety in the workplace, working collaboratively to integrate safety into the planning process, and placing a high personal value on safety.

"The Cenovus Safety Stewardship Award is just one way Cenovus shows our appreciation for a commitment to safety," said Greeves. "Cenovus puts a lot of emphasis on ensuring the work we do is done in a safe and responsible way, and when we have the opportunity to work with companies that share the same values, we can achieve great things."

Winners received a plaque and a donation to their charity of choice. As part of the award, the Town of Shaunavon Minor Ball, Saskatchewan Families for Effective Autism Treatment, St. Michael's School Holy Family Playground Improvement Project, Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Angus Campbell Centre for Drug and Alcohol Recovery, Alzheimer Society of Canada and Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation Inc., were each presented with a $5,000 donation from Cenovus.
