Members of the Estevan detachment of the RCMP along with Estevan Fire Rescue personnel were called to a tractor fire in the Benson area on April 30.
Const. Peter Donaldson of the Estevan RCMP said the accidental fire did not result in any injuries but the tractor was a total loss. Damage to an attached air drill, was minor.
The RCMP said that to prevent fires of this nature, operators are reminded to inspect the undercarriage of all their machinery on a regular basis and keep it clear of dried vegetation.
Caution is especially advised when operating equipment near areas where controlled burns are in progress or where they have recently occurred.
Many fields and adjoining ditches and pastures are currently dry and subject to any type of ignition agents, so extra diligence is advised.
