The 35th annual James Weir People’s Choice Exhibition will open for viewing on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery.
The James Weir contest is the longest running show of its kind in Western Canada, and it will be open from Jan. 5 to March 19, with voting to end at 5 p.m., and the winners will be announced in a Facebook livestream event on March 25 at 7p.m.
Every January/February since it began in 1984, the Allie Griffin Art Gallery has hosted this multi-artist show, where residents of Weyburn are invited to vote for their favourite pieces of art.
This year, the voting can be done in the gallery, or online.
Curator Regan Lanning hosts a large number of school tours through the exhibit. The children are encouraged to look deeper and explore the meanings and messages in the art.
If any person or group would like to book a guided Zoom gallery tour of the exhibit, contact (306) 848-3278 or email [email protected]
