Lake Alma (cpd) - Seven members of the Lake Alma Book Club drove to Estevan on May 1 to meet with author Marie Donais Calder at the Estevan Public Library. Her book "The Other Side of War" had been chosen by the club to read for the month of April.
Lake Alma (cpd) - Seven members of the Lake Alma Book Club drove to Estevan on May 1 to meet with author Marie Donais Calder at the Estevan Public Library. Her book "The Other Side of War" had been chosen by the club to read for the month of April. The book is the first of a series. Everyone enjoyed reading the book and discussing it with the author was great. The books are available through the Lake Alma Library.
Members were Bernice Bloor, Linda Clausen, Deb Petersen, Sheila Lohse, Mavis Storle, Katie Bloor and Charlene Wimmer. The ladies also enjoyed a supper out at Houston's Pizza. The book club will meet again in the fall. Stop in at the Library if you would like to read the book.
Nine children attended the Library Mother's Day Craft on May 7. They decorated a pot and also made a star or bug ornament for the pot. Plants were then potted for them to take home for their Mothers. Sheila Lohse and Deb Petersen helped out for the day.
Story Hour will wrap up on May 30. The program will break for the summer and start again in the fall. The library will once again be holding the summer reading program for children of all ages. Watch for details.
Bernice and Kevin Bloor were Weyburn goers on May 12 and were afternoon visitors with Kevin's mother, Phyllis Bloor.
Elaine Roysum spent May 8-10 with her grandchildren Mya and Kason Roysum while their parents, Shane and Lindsay, were away.
Deena Offet, Callie, Jensen, Cael and Tahlaya of Moosomin spent Mother's Day with Clare and Ida Offet in Weyburn. It was a great Mother's Day.
Ty Roysum, youngest son of Cory and Cherie Roysum, celebrated his third birthday with his cousin, Kaybree Fonstad, daughter of James Fonstad, who was four, at the Fonstad residence in Oxbow on May 11 with James and Olivia Fonstad, Shane Roysum, Mya and Kason of Wilcox, Ron and Gail Fonstad, Joyce Fonstad, Blaine Fonstad, Robert, Pauline and Axel Grimsrud, Jared and Kristy Skuce and family, Reg and Jason Schultz and family of Estevan, Brent and Gwen Kaufmann and grandsons Park and Kolt of Regina, and Judy Grimsrud. A fun time was had by all.
Paula Lohse took Duane and Delores Larsen to the CanAm Country Inn at Oungre the evening of May 14 where they met Brandon, Melissa and Roy Lohse, and Rod Robinson and children for supper and help Melissa celebrate her birthday which was that day. After supper everyone enjoyed the birthday cake that Grandma Delores had brought.
Ida and Clare Offet accompanied Delores and Duane Larsen to Regina on May 15 where Duane had an appointment at the Pasqua Hospital and also with an eye specialist in readiness to have cataract surgery.
Michael and Andrea Clausen, Sydney and Tyson of Estevan brought a Chinese supper to Tom and Linda Clausen for Mother's Day on May 12. Sydney and Tyson stayed overnight with grandpa and grandma and they took them back to Estevan the next afternoon as they had a holiday from school.
Word was received of the death of Edwin Fransen of Plentywood, Mont. at Billings, Mont. on May 13. His wife is the former Dorothy Hess who grew up south of Beaubier on the United States side near Westby, Mont. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dwight Thompson of Bienfait spent May 5 visiting his mother, Mildred Thompson at Weyburn, and they together visited with Gladys Hunstad and enjoyed pie and coffee. In the evening Mildred and Dwight enjoyed a barbecue at Larry and Emily Stadlers' and joining them were Wylie and Sylvia Thompson of Lake Alma.
