The Royal Canadian Legion Estevan branch gave out awards for its poster and literary contest last Thursday, which saw young people from the Energy City submit posters, poems and essays for the competition.
Winners received certificates, medals and cash prizes for taking top spots in their respective age groups, artistic categories and levels.
Medal recipients in the zone level were Cameron Milbrandt for primary black and white poster, Rachel Duncan for primary coloured poster, Randi Milbrant for junior black and white poster, William Duncan for Junior Essay, Princess Agleon for intermediate black and white poster, Bathany Montebon for intermediate essay and Rebecca Duncan for intermediate poem.
At the district level first place winners were Rachel Duncan for coloured poster, Randi Milbrant for junior black and white poster, William Duncan for junior essay and Rebecca Duncan for intermediate poem.
Each of these winners walked away with certificates and $30 cash.
Second place district level winners Cameron Milbrandt for primary coloured poster and Bethany Montebon for intermediate essay, awarding the certificates and prizes of $20.
Rebecca Duncan also took first at the provincial level for intermediate poem, gaining her another certificate and $75.
Local runners up were Randi Milbrand for junior black and white poster and William Duncan for junior essay. The pair received additional certificates and $50 for their efforts.
