An Estevan native was the big winner for the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation’s 50-50 draw on Tuesday night.
Michaella Matthies had her number drawn and won the $322,945 prize for that night. She’s from Estevan, and is currently residing in Edmonton to attend the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
According to the Oilers’ Facebook page, Matthies is a lifelong Oilers fan who is looking forward to sharing the money with her family and using the winnings to pay off student loans.
In her younger days, Matthies was also a star with the Estevan Minor Hockey Association’s female hockey teams.
