WEYBURN – An old-fashioned threshing bee will be held on the farm of Glen and Suzanne Stomp, located on the west side of the hamlet of Griffin, on Sunday, Sept. 4.
The grain to be used was put up into stooks recently, and is ready to be put through the threshing machine to demonstrate how harvesting used to be done in this area in the 1930s and 40s.
Everything will start up around 11 a.m., they will break for lunch and then start with the threshing in the afternoon.
Visitors to the farm, which is located right off Highway 13, can see historical displays, demonstrations of rope-making and blacksmithing, a 1908-era store, laundry display, a bunk house, and a concession will open at 11 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m.
A new feature this year will be a number of pedal tractors for children to enjoy.
A harvest supper will wrap up the day around 6 p.m., featuring roast turkey.
