One person is facing several charges following a drug bust in Estevan on Wednesday night.
The Estevan Police Service (EPS) Drug/Intelligence Unit has been conducting an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in the city. Drug/Intelligence Unit members, assisted by the Containment and Warrant Entry Team (CWET) and uniformed members, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Fifth Street at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Upon entry police were confronted by a male brandishing a machete. He was subsequently arrested without incident. A search of the property led to the seizure of approximately eight kilograms of marijuana and 40 grams of a marijuana derivative, known as shatter, along with materials used for the sale and distribution.
The total street value of marijuana seized is valued at approximately $82,000.00.
Denis Hein, 56, of Estevan is charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking; trafficking marijuana; possession of cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking; trafficking cannabis resin; production of cannabis resin; assault with a weapon contrary; and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
Hein made his first court appearance on Thursday.
