Uncontrolled intersections
The intersection of Isabelle Street and Victoria Avenue in Estevan now has stop signs. Previously it was an uncontrolled intersection.

The process of reducing the number of uncontrolled intersections in Estevan is underway.

City of Estevan crews started installing stop signs at the intersections in the Hillside area of the city on Monday. Hillside was the first area to receive stop signs due to the number of collisions that occur at uncontrolled intersections in the region.

The City of Estevan announced plans earlier this year to reduce the number of these intersections in the community, thanks to a grant that Estevan received from Saskatchewan Government Insurance through revenues generated by photo radar tickets.

The city expects to add stop signs at 40 intersections this year, which would complete half of the uncontrolled intersections in Estevan. The city would then apply to receive more funding from SGI so that the other half could be completed next year.

The intersections to receive stop signs were selected based on safety reasons such as accident rates and the proximity to schools.
