A local school is celebrating 60 years of serving the community Thursday night.
Sacred Heart School/Ecole Sacre Coeur held a community celebration, with about 200 people in attendance, including current and former teachers, principals, staff members, students, parents and many more.
They enjoyed looking at the history books set up in the school's gymnasium and listening to music from the school's praise choir. They also watched a video with triubtes to Sacred Heart from those with connections to the school
During an open mic session, current Grade 1 teacher Michella Prokop, former student Gail Hilstrom and former librarian Hanna Keating shared memories of the school.
Once the program was finished, the crowd toured the building, shared memories and had tea and snacks in the school's library.
Prokop, who was on the committee for the event, was pleased with the turnout and the history that was on display during the evening.
Next week's edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
