Top junior golfers competing in Estevan

Some of the top junior golfers from Western Canada are in Estevan this weekend for the Maple Leaf Junior Tour stop at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course. The opening round was held on Saturday.

Some of the top junior golfers from Western Canada are in Estevan this weekend for the Maple Leaf Junior Tour stop at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course.

The opening round was held on Saturday.

Josh Nagy of Saskatoon leads in the junior boys division after shooting a 75 in the opening round. He leads Estevan's Chase Gedak by one stroke.

Another local golfer, Jayden Dudas, is tied with Regina's Drayjon Sparvier for the lead in the juvenile boys division after both golfers shot a 76.

Chase Pochylko of Saskatoon is in top spot in the bantam boys division with a 78. And Dane Giesbrecht of Warman leads the peewee boys event after shooting an 81 in the opening round. 

Several other local golfers are competing. Jayden Chernoff is sixth in the peewee boys division with a 101; Ryan Chernoff is sixth in the bantam boys division with an 85; Connor Spencer is 13th in bantam boys after shooting a 104; Drew Fenwick is seventh in the juvenile boys division at 86; Hudson Chernoff is 17th in junvenile boys with a 108; Logan Chernoff is fourth in junior boys with an 82; and Jace Carlisle is fifth in junior boys with an 84. 

In the girls event, Ella Kozak of Yorkton leads the under-15 division after a 78 in the opening round, while Autumn Neiszner of Regina is first in the 15-18 girls division with an 86. 

The second and final round begins at 9 a.m. Sunday morning with a shotgun start. Awards will be handed out in the afternoon.
