Not only was it the fastest Teddy Bear Toss goal in Estevan Bruins history, it’s likely one of the fastest Teddy Bear Toss goals ever in hockey.
Tanner Manz of the Bruins scored 11 seconds into Wednesday night’s game between the Bruins and the Battlefords North Stars. As per the tradition of a teddy bear toss, fans immediately tossed their bears and other stuffed animals onto the ice.
The game was delayed for several minutes while Bruin players rounded up the bears from the ice. They were taken to the Estevan Salvation Army, who will distribute the bears to local youths and senior citizens’ homes.
The first Teddy Bear Toss in Estevan was held in 2013.
The Mercury will have a recap of the game later tonight, and next week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on the Teddy Bear Toss.
