Full-time post-secondary and university students at all Southeast College campuses have received a total of $65,000 in entrance awards.
These awards are created with proceeds from events such as the Swing for Scholarships golf tournament held in Estevan this past June, and includes matching funds from the Ministry of Advanced Education through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program.
“The entrance award program benefits current full-time students who enrolled in their programs before June 30th,” said Dave Harazny, manager of college advancement for Southeast College. “This is the third consecutive year we have provided entrance awards and we are proud to assist students financially as they pursue their post-secondary education locally.”
In addition to the entrance awards, Southeast College also provides application-based scholarships and bursaries thanks to support from local donors and organizations. The scholarship and bursary application process began for current students on Dec. 1 and is completed entirely online.
“That's an additional $100,000 we will award Southeast College students in the spring." added Harazny.
Looking ahead to the new year, the college has already made plans for full-time post-secondary programs starting in fall 2018. The Estevan campus will see the continuation of fourth class power engineering technician course, electrician, heavy equipment and truck and transport technician, industrial mechanic and welding certificates, as well as first-year University of Regina courses.
Enrolment begins for most programs on Febr. 1, 2018. Full details on submitting an application, entrance awards criteria, and all other program information can be found on the college’s website.
