Wilfred "Ted" Joseph Pingert passed away at Regina General Hospital, Regina on the 17th of September, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Ted was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Theresa Pingert; sister, Betty Yung and brothers, Nick, Bill and Albert Pingert. Ted was born on May 6, 1924 at Pangman. He was raised on the family farm and completed his Grade 8 at Medora School. In 1944 Ted married Mary Lupul at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Pangman. Together they took over the farm at Amulet and remained there until 1980. As well as farming, Ted helped as an electrician in Regina and then did maintenance work at the Pangman Hospital. Ted had an avid interest in flying. He enjoyed flying and building airplanes. He also enjoyed ham radios and was well versed in morse code. Ted also enjoyed fishing, camping and any kind of wood working. He enjoyed getting out in the community, going for morning coffee, visiting friends and neighbours, helping out wherever he could with grass cutting and building things. Ted was very active in the life of the Catholic Church in Pangman. He helped with the upkeep of the building and grounds and ringing the church bell on Sunday morning before mass. In 1980 Ted and Mary moved into Pangman but still continued to farm for a while longer. His children and grandchildren had a very special place in his heart and he enjoyed talking about them. Ted will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Mary Pingert of Pangman; four children, Richard (Shirley) Pingert of Ponoka, AB; Carol (Harold) Baran of Kelowna, BC; Susan (Ralph) Hubl of Jaffray, BC and Bev (Bernie) Schwindt of Breton, AB; grandchildren, Krista (Stan) Schultz, Tasha (Craig) Erickson, Ricky Pingert, Rodney (Satoma) Pingert, Angie (Murray) Kane, Gail Baran, Lisa Blough, Lona (Rob) Williams, T.J. (April) Benjamin, Desmond (Carolyn) Schwindt and Shauna Schwindt; 16 great grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Louise Riviere. Prayers were said on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 PM at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Pangman and a Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 21 from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Father Anthony Pangan celebrating. Pallbearers were Raymund Yung, Peter Pingert, Rod Pingert, T.J. Benjamin, Des Schwindt and Kurt Yung. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn.
