RCMP pursuing two suspects after armed robbery in the Whitewood area

The RCMP says there are two suspects who might be armed and are considered dangerous.

The RCMP says there is an increased police presence in Whitewood on Wednesday night.

WHITEWOOD - The Saskatchewan RCMP is currently responding to a report of a robbery with a firearm in the Whitewood area. No injuries have been reported in relation to the robbery.

According to the RCMP, there are two suspects. They might be armed and are considered dangerous. They were last seen driving on the old Highway 1 east of Whitewood.

The RCMP says the suspects are now believed to be on foot. One suspect is described as a male and may have been wearing a green shirt. The RCMP does not have a description of the other suspect at this time. Both suspects are described as having a slim build.

"We are asking the public to report any suspicious activity or people in the Whitewood area to police. Please ensure your vehicle and house doors are locked. Report any suspicious activity to police immediately; call 911 in emergencies or 310-RCMP in non-emergencies," the RCMP said in a news release.

"There will continue to be an increased police presence in relation to the ongoing investigation. We will provide an update when we have more information available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, we will notify the public."
