ESTEVAN - The Flin Flon Bombers extended their unbeaten streak in regulation play to 23 games with a 4-0 win over the Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins on Wednesday night at Affinity Place.

The game was the first since the Bruins announced Sunday they had parted ways with head coach/general manager Jason Tatarnic. Drew Kocur has been named Tatarnic's interim replacement for the rest of the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Bombers took over in the second, outshooting the Bruins 17-7 and outscoring Estevan 3-0. Keefe Gruener opened the scoring 85 seconds into the middle frame. Tyder Ringor doubled the lead roughly six minutes later and Gruener notched his second of the game a few minutes later.

The Bruins found some life later in the period and had a few good scoring chances, but were stymied by Bombers' goalie Matthew Kieper, who finished with 22 saves on the night.

Estevan had a few more chances to break the goose egg in the third, including a breakaway for captain Brady Wilson, but it remained a 3-0 game until Joey Lies scored a short-handed goal into an empty net with 41 seconds to play in the third.

Zach Shaughnessy had 36 saves on the night for Estevan.

The Bruins (12-19-3-1) sit fourth in the Viterra Division and 10th overall with a 12-19-3-1 record and 28 points. They will host the Kindersley Klippers on Jan. 24 and 25. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
