Nominations are starting to come in for Estevan's civic election.

ESTEVAN - The nomination papers are starting to come in for both Estevan city council and the RM of Estevan council.

Incumbent Coun. Shelly Veroba filed her nomination papers for Estevan city council on Tuesday - the first day that papers could be submitted. She is seeking a third consecutive four-year term as a councillor. Veroba finished first in the councillor race in both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

In the RM of Estevan, incumbent Reeve Jason LeBlanc has filed his forms as he seeks a first full term in that role. He was acclaimed as reeve in an August 2021 by-election.

Also filing papers in the RM thus far are Suzanne McNabb for councillor in Division 1, and incumbent Coun. Ramona Dukart, who is looking to be re-elected in Division 5. The RM will elect its reeve, and the councillors for Divisions 1, 3 and 5 this year.

Nobody has filed nomination papers for the Estevan trustee positions on the South East Cornerstone Public School Board or the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Board.

The deadline to file nomination papers in both the city and the RM of Estevan, or for the school boards, is Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.

The civic election is slated for Nov. 13.

The Mercury and SaskToday will have coverage throughout the nomination period.
