SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A portion of Highway 39 is closed Saturday afternoon due to a collision.
According to the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway Hotline, the collision occurred three kilometres southeast of Weyburn. All lanes are closed. Police are on site and motorists are asked to use an alternate route.
"Use extreme caution while travelling in the area," states the Highway Hotline.
Most highways in the Weyburn area are reportedly covered, with such issues as loose snow, slush and ice, thanks to a winter storm striking the southeast on Saturday.
Highways elsewhere in the southeast are also covered, including some stretches of Highway 1.
Some highways in the Carlyle area were covered earlier in the day, but they are now reportedly clear with good visibility. Highways in the Estevan area are also bare and have good visibility.
A snowfall warning was issued early Saturday for the southeast. It has since been lifted.
