EPS arrest man for of assault with weapon, mischief and more

Latest news from the Estevan Police Service include arrests, road accidents, a a report of a man running around with no shirt on in cold weather and more.

ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members made an arrest late last week.

A 41-year-old Estevan man was arrested during nightshift on Jan.9. He was held in custody until the morning and will be facing charges of assault with a weapon, mischief, criminal harassment and breaching conditions of a previous release document, the EPS said in a news release. He will appear in court in February.

The same day police received a report of criminal harassment occurring. Statements were obtained and the matter remains under investigation.

Earlier last week, EPS members attended to a single motor vehicle collision in which a vehicle struck a tree in Woodlawn Park on Jan. 7. No injuries were reported, but due to the damage sustained, the vehicle required a tow.

Police also attended to an apartment building in the Trojan subdivision to a report of a tenant causing a noise that was disturbing others in the building.  The subject of the complaint was contacted by police and warned under the noise bylaw.

On Jan. 8, police arrested an Estevan man who breached conditions of his conditional sentence order. He will be taken to provincial court to have a hearing on the allegations of breach.

The same day a report of a suspicious person hanging around a business on the north side of the city was received. The matter is under investigation.

Police also responded to a report of a man running around with no shirt on in cold weather. He was located and spoken to about his actions and was subsequently sent on his way.

EPS received a report of an individual who drove off from a local service station without paying for fuel on Jan. 10. Members were able to contact the owner of the vehicle, and they returned to pay for their fuel.

A complaint about a vehicle that was blocking a driveway on King Street was received. Members were able to contact the owner of the vehicle and inform them that the vehicle needed to be moved.

A report of an individual posting photos and comments regarding another person on social media was received by EPS. Statements were obtained and the matter is under investigation.

A two-vehicle collision was reported in a parking lot at a local business. One vehicle needed to be towed and statements from both drivers were obtained.
