ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service members responded to reports of a hit-and-run, fraud, disturbance and more over the past couple of days.
A report of a Bitcoin fraud under $5,000 was received on Feb. 3 and remains under investigation.
"EPS would like to remind the public to be cautious with any company that asks for money in order to obtain a larger sum of money," EPS said in a media release. "If you have any concerns, you can contact the Estevan Police Service at 306-634-4767 or The Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501."
EPS members were able to conclude a hit-and-run file. The accident occurred on Jan. 25. Witness statements were provided, and the driver of the offending vehicle was located. He was warned about leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it to the victim and/or the police. That matter has been referred to SGI for conclusion.
Police attended to a disturbance in a city-core residential area. The investigation determined that an assault and damage to property had taken place. The matter is still under investigation.
On Feb. 2, EPS members attended to a local hotel as a patron who resides there called to report an individual on the property who was on release conditions to not have contact with them. On arrival, members spoke with the male subject, advised him of the complaint and cautioned him that if he returned to the property he would be arrested and charged for breaching his release conditions. The male left the property, and no further issues were reported.
