ESTEVAN - The St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation's annual Festival of Trees once again received great support from the community.
In a post on its Facebook page, the foundation said it was "thrilled" to announce that $153,500 was raised during this year's Festival of Trees, which was held Nov. 16 and 17. A gala supper took place at Affinity Place on the 16th, with live and silent auctions, along with other fundraisers, and family activities were held throughout the community the following day.
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this incredible event – our sponsors, volunteers, donors and attendees. You made this unforgettable weekend possible," the foundation said on Facebook.
Proceeds from this event will go directly towards the MRI for Estevan campaign, bringing the foundation closer to improving health care in the community.
An updated total for the MRI for Estevan campaign was not available, but it was at a little more than $4.3 million as of Nov. 16. The total includes the $2 million donated by Elaine Walkom in memory of her late husband Grant.
The campaign has a $6.5 million goal, which is the cost of purchasing the equipment, renovating the diagnostic imaging area and other costs associated with bringing an MRI to Estevan.
