ESTEVAN — One of the men charged after the murder of Oxbow’s Briana Hayes made a video court appearance on June 6 in Estevan Provincial Court.

Tyler Shaw, 27, from Gainsborough, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder in connection to the homicide in April. He was remanded in custody for his next appearance in July.

Taylor Japp, 24, of Oxbow, who was charged with second-degree murder after the body of Hayes was found, is scheduled to appear in court in Carlyle on June 12. He remains in custody.

On April 24, the Carlyle RCMP detachment received a report of a potential homicide. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took control of the investigation and began working to confirm this information. As a result of the continued investigation, Hayes' body was found in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain around noon on April 25.

Shaw was arrested and charged the same day, while the second-degree murder charge against Japp was announced on April 26.
