New Estevan city council sworn in

The first regular meeting for the new council is slated for Nov. 25.

ESTEVAN - The new members of Estevan city council were sworn in at a special meeting on Friday afternoon.

Estevan Provincial Court Judge Mitch Miller administered the Oath of Office to the seven members. Mayor Tony Sernick was up first, and was followed by Councillors Shelly Veroba, Tom Mauss, Dave Elliott, Matthew Dubowski, Brian Johnson and Kirsten Walliser. 

Family members, city staff and others were in attendance.

The first regular meeting for the new council is scheduled for Nov. 25.

Sernick is entering his first term as mayor. He has one term of experience as a city councillor. Veroba is entering her third term as a councillor and Walliser is now in her second term. Johnson is back on council after an eight-year absence; he was first elected in 2000 and remained until his defeat in 2016.

Elliott, Mauss and Dubowski are in their first terms as councillors.
