ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members conducted a traffic stop on March 5 with a driver after they noticed her swerving from side to side within her lane of travel.

Police noted signs of impairment roadside, and the driver tested positive for THC on a roadside testing device. The accused was arrested and brought back to EPS for further testing with a drug recognition expert who determined that the driver was impaired. The accused was charged with impaired driving and her vehicle was towed.

Police conducted another traffic stop later in the day and they noted the driver was showing signs of impairment. Police requested the driver perform a standard field sobriety test (SFST). The driver later failed the SFST and she was arrested. The accused was transported to the hospital where two samples of her blood were obtained for testing. The blood samples were sent away for testing to determine what drugs were in the accused’s system at the time of driving.

Earlier this week, the EPS received a report of mischief to a vehicle that was parked at the Estevan Comprehensive School parking lot on March 3. The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance at a local convenience store. Members attended and located the man a short distance away from the business. He was warned about his behavior and sent on his way home.

EPS members conducted a number of compliance checks on individuals in the community bound by release conditions. All individuals checked were found to be in their approved residences.

On March 4, EPS received two separate calls requesting assistance from the same 45-year-old Estevan woman. The first call was received directly through the EPS dispatch telephone line and the second was received a short time later through the 911 system.  In each instance, EPS staff were able to assist the woman to address her concerns related to her safety and wellbeing.

Police conducted a number of release and bail conditions checks during nightshift. All individuals checked were found to be in compliance with their conditions of release.
