Photos: CPKC Holiday Train brought Christmas cheer to the southeast

People braved frigid temperatures to watch the Holiday Train in North Portal and Estevan.

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - The CPKC Holiday Train made its annual stops in southeast Saskatchewan on Dec. 18, bringing Christmas cheer to North Portal, Estevan and Weyburn.

The train, which had been travelling through the midwestern U.S., crossed into Canada at North Portal. People turned out to view the train's brightly-decorated cars and to listen to the music provided by Seaforth and Alana Springsteen.

From there, the train ventured into Estevan and Weyburn for their annual shows. Its journey across much of the continent wrapped up in Moose Jaw that night.

The train's visit came amid inclimate weather in the southeast. Temperatures were well below normal that day, and by the time the train arrived in Estevan, a snowstorm was blasting the city.

Seaforth noted the Estevan concert was the coldest weather they've had for a performance.

People who turned out for the Holiday Train's performances were asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the food bank. CPKC Rail also presented a cheque to food banks during each stop.

CPKC Rail also had a Holiday Train that made its way across Canada in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
