ESTEVAN - The largest recreational hockey tournament in Saskatchewan is bringing lots of activity to Estevan.
The 41st annual Estevan Strippers Molson Spring Bust Tournament opened April 2 with four games. Six contests were played April 3. The activity will pick up in the afternoon of April 4, with games beginning in the mid-afternoon and continuing well into the evening. There will be contests throughout the day on April 5, and the tournament wraps up April 6 with the division finals.
A total of 36 teams are entered, with eight women's teams and 28 men's clubs. About half of the teams are from out of town, creating a significant economic impact for the Estevan area.
The games the first two nights were at the Power Dodge Arena and Affinity Place. The Bienfait Memorial Arena will join the other two rinks in hosting games from April 4-6.
The Power Dodge Curling Centre will be the site of cabarets on April 4, with DJ Dale Orsted supplying music, and the following night, with local band Crossroads providing entertainment.
The Strippers donate at least $10,000 to community organizations each year through the funds raised during the tournament.
SaskToday will continue to have coverage of the tournament.
