Photos: SE College students receive $31,000 in bursaries

For the first time, students received bursaries at the midpoint of their programs to ensure they had access to funds when they needed support.

ESTEVAN — Southeast College marked Student Appreciation Week by delivering $31,000 in financial bursary awards to students in adult basic education and various post-secondary programs on Feb. 10-12.

This year, the format for distributing Southeast College Bursary Awards was changed, the college said in a media release. Students received the awards at the midpoint of their programs to ensure they had access to funds when they needed support the most.

Award presentations took place in Weyburn on Feb. 10, Estevan on Feb. 11 and Whitewood on Feb. 12. A total of 26 awards were given to 26 different students throughout the Southeast College region.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved and continue to work towards,” said Jody Holzmiller, Interim President and CEO. “We have received encouraging and positive feedback from our students, donors and communities regarding the slight change in the bursary and scholarship distribution format. We are so grateful for the ongoing support that our college and our students receive.”
