SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for most of southern Saskatchewan Thursday evening.

The cities of Regina and Moose Jaw were affected, as are 138 RMs and the communities within those RMs. Estevan, Weyburn, Assiniboia and Swift Current were all covered by the thunderstorm watch.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

"Fast moving thunderstorms continue over southwestern Saskatchewan this evening and are moving rapidly northeastward. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe. Thunderstorm activity will expand across southern Saskatchewan through the night."

Meanwhile, a heat warning that was in effect throughout southern Saskatchewan and for many other areas of the province is over.
