SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect Friday for southeast Saskatchewan, including Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Moosomin and other areas.

The advisory stated conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms near a low-pressure system Friday afternoon and evening. It might be capable of producing strong winds, large hail and heavy rainfall.

A total of 61 RMs - and the urban municipalities within those RMs - were affected.

Meanwhile, the heat warning that was issued Wednesday for the southeast was also still in effect on Friday. It was lifted early Saturday.

"A cold front forecast to pass through the region Friday evening will bring temperatures back below warning thresholds as the weekend approaches," Environment Canada said.
