Update: Severe thunderstorm watch ends in south Sask

Thunderstorms are expected to develop in southern Saskatchewan later this afternoon

A severe thunderstorm watch is no longer in effect for much of southern Saskatchewan.

UPDATE - The severe thunderstorm watch for southern Saskatchewan has been lifted.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for much of southern Saskatchewan on Canada Day.

"Thunderstorms were expected to develop in southern Saskatchewan later this afternoon," the advisory states.

Environment Canada said some thunderstorms might become severe with 90 kilometre per hour wind gusts, and hail that is two to four centimetres in size.  

The advisory covered the Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle and Assiniboia areas, among others.
