Update: Severe thunderstorm watch lifted

Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon over northeastern Montana and will track northeast towards the watch area this evening.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of southern Saskatchewan Thursday afternoon.

The advisory covered Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Regina, Moose Jaw, Assiniboia, Moosomin and other areas. At one time, more than 100 RMs - and the communities within those RMs - were covered.

"Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon over northeastern Montana and will track northeast towards the watch area this evening," Environment Canada said in the advisory. "The primary threats include isolated damaging winds and large hail. Thunderstorms will continue to track northeast through the night."
