ALIDA - The Saskatchewan RCMP says two people have been arrested in Alida amid the increased police presence in the community.

According to the RCMP, on July 24 at approximately 7 a.m., the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the village as part of an ongoing investigation.

An adult female and a male youth were arrested at the scene. At this time, charges have not been laid.

The Saskatchewan RCMP continues to investigate, and the RCMP says if there is more information to release, an update will be provided.

The Carnduff, Estevan and Carlyle RCMP detachments, along with the Carlyle Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan unit, assisted in this investigation. Also involved was the Saskatchewan RCMP’s critical incident response program.

In the initial news release issued Wednesday morning, the RCMP said there was not an increased risk to public safety at the time.
