Update: Wind warning lifted in southeast Saskatchewan

The wind warning for southeast Saskatchewan has been lifted.

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - A wind warning was in effect for southeast Saskatchewan on Monday.

Environment Canada issued the advisory just before 8 a.m. for Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Moosomin and other areas of the region. A total of 67 RMs were affected in eastern portions of the province. 

The warning stated that severe wind gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour were expected on Monday.

"Strong to severe westerly winds are developing today in the wake of an intense low-pressure system moving through central Manitoba," the advisory stated. "Peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible through the afternoon hours."

Winds are expected to diminish this evening.
