The Kinsmen Foundation raised $5,630,215 from the TeleMiracle 45 telecast, which was broadcast on Feb. 27 and 28.
TeleMiracle 45 featured 75 pre-recorded performances by talent from across Saskatchewan, which included two performers from the Assiniboia area.
Jordan Engstrom from Assiniboia said that her performance was pre-recorded at the Cultural Exchange Center in Regina back in January. “It was a great experience and if I missed a note it was okay, because I could do another take.”
“It was important for me to perform at TeleMiracle because I think it is a great cause. It helps so many people and it is a great feeling to be a part of it.”
Jordan has been performing at TeleMiracle from a very young age. “It would be weird not to continue to partake in it and contribute to it.”
This year, she performed the song ‘Beautiful’ by Christina Aguilera.
Jordan raised more than $7,000. Among other collected donations and fundraisers, Engstrom had held a raffle for a PlayStation 5. The Assiniboia Kinsmen’s donation was included in Jordan’s total, whose father and grandfather are both active members of the club.
Over the past few months, Jordan has been working with a producer from Saskatoon that is helping her with a single that she is hoping to release this year. “I have also spent my spring break writing tons of music and I am so excited to share it soon.”
Jordan has an upcoming performance at the Moose Jaw Music Festival, and a possible opportunity to perform for the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Youth Showcase.
“I am staying active on my YouTube channel and covers are going up regularly. Music is a huge part of my life and I am so glad for the opportunities that have been given to me to do what I love.”
Londyn Beliveau from Rockglen also had a pre-recorded performance. “I enjoyed my time in Regina at the recording. The crew made it special with flashy lights and a fog machine.”
There was an opportunity for Londyn to hold a Zoom presentation of her TeleMiracle donations, during the broadcast of the fundraiser. She sold tickets on a community basket, and also had some personal donations collected.
“I also presented the donations from the Coronach Kinettes, Coronach Kinsmen and Fife Lake 27th Annual Auction.”
For her TeleMiracle performance, Londyn sang “When you say nothing at all”, written by Allison Krauss, and was accompanied by Dorothea Trithardt. For the past five years, Londyn has taken vocal lessons with Dorothea. Last year, she had the opportunity to perform during the TeleMiracle Countdown Show. In addition to singing, Londyn also plays hockey, enjoys reading and school. She is currently preparing for the Borderland Music Festival.
Funds that were raised during TeleMiracle stay in Saskatchewan to fund the work of the Kinsmen Foundation.
