Former Bienfait resident Andy Shauf has received three nominations for Juno Awards, which recognize the best in Canadian music.

Shauf is up for the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, the Adult Alternative Album of the Year award for The Party, which was released last year, and the Recording Engineer of the Year award for The Magician and To You, which are two songs from The Party.

The other finalists for the breakthrough artist award are Kaytranada, Ruth B, Tory Lanez and Jazz Cartier.

Other candidates for the adult alternative album are Basia Bulat’s Good Advice, Gord Downie’s Secret Path, Wintersleep’s The Great Detachment, and the late Leonard Cohen’s You Want it Deeper.

The finalists for the recording engineer award are Eric Ratz, George Seara, Matty Green and Jason Dufour.

The Party, which was released last year, is Shauf’s third album, and his first with the Arts and Crafts Productions recording label. The album was shortlisted for the 2016 edition of the Polaris Music Prize, which is awarded to the top Canadian album of the year.

The Juno Awards will be handed out on April 2 in Ottawa.
