Appetizing Estevan Culinary Tours were first offered by Tourism Estevan a year ago, and since then the entertainment attracted hundreds of people.
Rebecca Westling, the destination marketing/communications consultant for the City of Estevan, said they were super busy with the tours ever since they announced them in January 2019.
“We usually do two tours once a month … on one date, on the last Friday of every month. There are two tours that typically would go out, but we’ve had even more response. We had three tours some evenings as well,” said Westling, noting that they always do their best to accommodate the demands of the community.
Up to this point, 363 people participated in culinary tours in Estevan, and the activity equally attracts people from the city and also from outside of the city.
The night starts at the Estevan Leisure Centre, where limo car or a party bus by Empire Limousine Service picks up guests. The group goes around the city, throughout the night stopping at three different restaurants, where they get an opportunity to try some delicious meals and partake in the evening entertainment such as brew school, Singo and board games. At the end of the night, drivers take guests home. Feature menu items, such as an appetizer-sized sample, are included in the tour per person at each stop. Beverages are not included.
Culinary tours turned out to be a great option for birthday, Christmas and business parties and all other occasions. But mainly they attract groups of friends, who are just looking for something different to do on Friday night. And with a more than a reasonable price and also no restrictions on the minimal number of participants, the tours proved to be a great option to get to know Estevan, its restaurants and its people.
“We’ve actually noticed that (according to) the feedback that we’ve gotten from the groups of two, three, four people, they’ve really enjoyed themselves, because they got to meet other people the tour and they had a really good time,” said Westling.
Appetizing Estevan Culinary Tours are constantly evolving, trying to accommodate various interests of the community. Now they are offering themed tours. They did a breakfast yoga tour at the Woodlawn Regional Park last summer and a dressed-up Halloween tour in October.
“We always get some great feedback from the participants. We actually have multiple bookings, people that have gone on a tour continue to book on another tours as well, which means we are doing something right,” said Westling.
To celebrate their first anniversary, Appetizing Estevan Culinary Tour are putting together a special night on Feb. 28.
“We are going to three stops, The Beef bar, 1124 Social House and The Black Grasshopper. This is unique because it’s our year anniversary. We are having all the tours meet up at The Black Grasshopper at the end of the evening, and we all are going to play Singo against each other. Each group will be pitted against two other groups to see which tour group is the winners."
The spots are still available for the tour. People can call the Visitor Information Centre in the Estevan Leisure Centre to register. The cost for each participant is $40.
