WEYBURN – A popular Moose Jaw-based group, the Bromantics, brought their unique performance of the songs of the 50s and early 60s to the Cugnet Centre stage on Tuesday night, as a part of the Weyburn Concert Series.
The show will kick off their tour of Saskatchewan venues with the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC), which had originally been planned in 2019, before COVID hit in 2020 and shut everything down.
The group is comprised of lead singer Tim Linchuk, Robert Haakenson on guitar, Kurt Gillett on saxophone, Jim Mitchell on bass (and trombone on one song), Gregg Gower on keyboards and drummer Justin Hauck.
They played a variety of instruments, and as Haakenson noted, for one song he and bassist Mitchell switched up instruments as Mitchell played a trombone along with Gillett. For the encore, which was their version of "Proud Mary", Mitchell played guitar and Haakenson played the bass.
As a fun way to end the show, they did a selfie from stage and had the crowd wave their arms in the background.
