CARLYLE - Carlyle town council met on Sept. 15. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Mayor Kelly Lutz in the absence of Mayor Jennifer Sedor.

Council had the opportunity to review the results from the Recreation and Culture Public survey that residents completed in the summer months, as well as the results from the elementary and high school students; all responses confirm that we are moving in the right direction with the creation of our Parks, Recreation and Culture department and new staff positions to run this department.  We look forward to Oct. 1, which is the start date for our new recreation director Shane Marsh.

The Town of Carlyle was a successful recipient of the Transit Assistance for People with Disabilities Capital funding grant provided through the Government of Saskatchewan. The grant money will go towards the purchase of a replacement handi-transit van purchased from MoveMobility as the successful tender; we look forward to the new van arriving early 2022.

The transfer station will be reverting back to our fall hours on Oct. 1, which are Mondays and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Also, council has set the date of Oct. 16 as a no fee day at the transfer station for Town of Carlyle residents, be sure to take advantage of this day to remove any debris in your yards before winter.

Tree branches, grass clippings, clean wood and cardboard are always free to drop off during operating hours.
