KENOSEE LAKE - Perfectly situated in Moose Mountain Provincial Park, the Kenosee Inn is a well-known tourist resort and restaurant.

Kenosee Inn opened its doors in 1988 with Dalelynn and Ed Fahlman becoming partners in 2001. In 2020, they bought the shares of previous owners Daryl Safinuk and Blaine Shackleton, and are now sole owners.

Ed grew up in Windthorst while Dalelynn hails from Nova Scotia. They have two children, who are both attending post-secondary schools in Brandon, Man.

Sarah is 21 and wants to become an elementary school teacher, studying at the University of Brandon. Matthew is 18 and is enrolled in communications engineering at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon.

The Observer toured the premises, which majestically overlooks Kenosee Lake and boasts one the longest toboggan hills in southeast Saskatchewan. Kenosee Inn has 30 beautiful suites, a convention centre that accommodates nearly 100, and a fitness centre. The rooms facing west all have balconies which offer spectacular scenery. They also have 23 log cabins of which 10 are fully winterized.

Both cabins and rooms are renovated on a regular basis and are bright, clean and modern. During the peak summer season, over 30 people are employed, who in turn contribute to the local economy. Kenosee Inn also has a fully licensed dining room, The Kabin, and they provide full take-out delivery services including pizza. It is open seven days a week.

The Fahlmans operate a well-established tourism business and one can feel the positive energy emanating from them when we talked. Said Ed, “Southeastern Saskatchewan is a great place to visit and Kenosee Lake is definitely the place to be, 12 months of the year. Naturally, we are extremely busy during the summer but if we get a good snowfall, Moose Mountain Provincial Park boasts hundreds of miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails.”

With the park also known for its cross-country skiing , the Fahlmans also assist the Moose Mountain Lions Club in suppling ski and snowshoe rentals during the winter months.

Moose Mountain Provincial Park is a well known tourist attraction and is renowned as a choice vacation destination throughout Western Canada. The Fahlmans are proud to call Kenosee Lake their home and welcome both new and existing customers with open arms. They are on Instagram and have a Facebook Page, Kenosee Inn and Cabins. Feel free to stop in, anytime.
