Appointments have been made to housing authorities in a pair of southeast communities.
Tanya Hollinger and James Matthewson have been reappointed to the Carnduff Housing Authority board of directors, while Lisa MacFarlane is a newly-appointed member in Carnduff.
Other members of the board of directors are Shannon Carlton and Linda Powell. Matthewson is chairperson.
The Carnduff Housing Authority is a community-based organization that provides daily management of 33 housing units constructed.
Brenda Boutin has been reappointed to the Alida Housing Authority’s board. Other members of the board are Edel Cowan, Brenda Junk, Lillian Patton and Margaret Peet.
The Alida Housing Authority is a community-based organization that provides daily management of four housing units.
Both housing authorities’ units are constructed and operated under the terms of a federal-provincial-municipal cost-sharing agreement
Social Services Minister Paul Merriman paid tribute to the volunteers who manage the social housing projects in their respective communities.
“This local hands-on approach ensures that the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation responds effectively to the needs of each community,” said Merriman.
Saskatchewan has a network of 260 housing authorities and more than 1,400 volunteer members who assist with management of housing units throughout the province for seniors, low-income families and people with disabilities.
Individuals interested in volunteering to serve on the board of directors for their local housing authority are encouraged to contact their mayor. A local nominating committee recommends board members.
