Lori Carr, a 45-year-old financial planner, will be representing the Sask Party as the candidate for the Estevan Constituency when the next provincial election is called.
Carr, who is also a city councillor, outpolled the lone challenger Roy Ludwig, who is Estevan’s mayor, at a nomination meeting conducted in the Days Inn Plaza on March 26.
About 350 voting delegates attended the meeting to cast their ballots and to listen to speeches delivered by the two candidates and Kevin Doherty, Minister of Advanced Education, in the current provincial government.
Current MLA Doreen Eagles, also addressed the party faithful and delivered a tearful round of thanks to those who had supported her during the nearly 17 years she has served as the Estevan representative in the legislative assembly. Eagles announced her impending retirement in the fall of 2014, which opened the door for the nomination process to begin.
