ESTEVAN - The City of Estevan has announced plans to hold an open house next week to discuss the recently-announced wastewater feasibility study and the proposed options found within the document.
Water and wastewater services manager Shane Bucsis will be present to discuss the study’s objectives and proposed options, along with the benefits and considerations included. The event will be held on March 6 and 7 from 5-7 p.m. at the Southeast Innovation Business Development Centre on Ninth Avenue.
Community members are encouraged to attend the open house to see how the prospective options could support the City of Estevan’s sustainability vision and values.
Council discussed the feasibility study and the options during Monday night’s meeting. The comprehensive document, which is more than 60 pages in length, can be found within the council agenda package for the Feb. 27 meeting on the City of Estevan’s website.
The report notes SaskPower currently takes all wastewater treatment plant effluent as boiler feed water after going through the wetlands. Through this agreement, the city doesn't release any water into the environment. With the potential eventual shutdown of the Shand Power Station, Bucsis has started the process of planning to release into the environment.
