ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service arrested two for failing to provide a breath sample on Thursday night.
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in northeast Estevan. The driver was arrested for refusing a roadside breath demand, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. He was also charged with driving while suspended. His vehicle has been impounded for 60 days.
Police were then alerted to a possible impaired driver on Kensington Avenue. A semi-trailer unit was stopped and a 27-year-old man from Minnedosa, Man., was arrested for refusing to provide a roadside breath sample. He was held until sober and will be charged for refusing the breath demand and having open alcohol in a vehicle. The man had his semi unit impounded for 60 days.
During the day on Aug. 25, officers were alerted to a semi-trailer unit that struck a light pole while making a turn at 13th Avenue and Sixth Street. The semi continued on out of town but was located a short distance away on Highway 39. Police were able to assist with collision reports and he was charged accordingly.
A 33-year-old woman from Moose Jaw turned herself into the Estevan Police Service. She had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from another jurisdiction. She was released in front of a justice of the peace with a future court date.
Earlier in the week, police received a complaint of youths in the pool at the Churchill Playpark in the middle of the night on Aug. 23. Members attended and caught three young men in the pool. The males were forced to clean up the pool toys and warned about their behaviour. They were also told they could be charged for being in the pool and advised to tell their parents, as the police would be contacting them at a more reasonable hour to let them know what happened.
Police received a complaint Aug. 22 about an individual driving while suspended. Police were unable to locate the person. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a driving complaint regarding a group of vehicles in a parking lot that were being driven erratically and honking their horns unnecessarily. Officers attended and didn’t witness any such behaviour.
Members arrested a Regina male on outstanding warrants out of the Regina Police Service. The male was released for court at a later date as per the wishes of Regina police.
