The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising Weyburn and area residents that the emergency department, lab and x-ray services continue to be available and accessible at Weyburn General Hospital.
If you feel unwell and think you require urgent or emergent care, call 911 or go to the hospital emergency department. Medical professionals are available to address your health care needs. Non-urgent health-related questions can be directed to the provincial HealthLine by calling 8-1-1.
The SHA has taken precautions to ensure a safe and protected care environment for all patients. Among the steps that have been implemented are enhancing screening of physicians, staff and patients to ensure the right precautions are being taken, increased cleaning of the care environment and equipment, and limiting visitors and public use of SHA facilities.
EMS Services are also taking all necessary steps to eliminate spread of the coronavirus during care. This includes proper cleaning of the ambulance and its equipment, use of proper personal protective equipment, and enhanced patient screening.
Service disruptions due to COVID-19 can be found on the service alerts page of the Saskatchewan Health Authority website.
The SHA is reminding the public that the primary factor in enabling the health system to meet the demand created by the COVID-19 virus is actions taken by Saskatchewan residents to stop the spread. Please help us by:
- Physical distancing;
- Washing your hands regularly;
- Limiting your bubble as much as possible;
- Abiding by all public health orders;
- Wear a mask whenever you are in public indoor settings;
- Stay home if you are feeling even the mildest symptoms as an increasing number of cases are residents going to work when sick;
- Download the Government of Canada COVID Alert App and use it to protect yourself and your loved ones
