Estevan police arrest Regina man for shoplifting and other charges

Regina man is facing multiple charges of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

ESTEVAN - A Regina man is facing multiple charges after a shoplifting incident in Estevan on Monday.

Members of the Estevan Police Service responded to a report of a theft from a business in the Trojan area. The 31-year-old man was arrested a short distance away when he entered a hotel to try and avoid police. 

The individual was in possession of several items from the store. He was also seen discarding stolen items in an alley. A wallet with multiple stolen pieces of identification was located.

He is facing multiple charges of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

In addition to these offences, he also had warrants for his arrest out of Regina and Melville, and was held in custody to appear before a judge or a justice of the peace Tuesday morning.

Police stopped a vehicle in the 700-block of Third Street and the female driver was issued a three-day driver's licence suspension for being over the .04 level for alcohol. Her vehicle was also towed.

Police responded to a total of 40 occurrences from July 14-16.

Calls for service included intoxicated persons, youths causing a disturbance in the downtown area, driving complaints, and patrons causing issues at local licensed establishments.

Police responded to multiple complaints of suspicious person(s) or vehicles over the weekend and the EPS said it greatly appreciates these calls from the public.
