ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service have been called to a number of incidents the past few days.
Police attended to a pedestrian versus motor vehicle collision at a business parking lot on Monday. A vehicle was described to be passing another vehicle that was stopped for a pedestrian.
The passing vehicle struck the pedestrian. Emergency Medical Services attended and treated the individual on scene and the pedestrian was not transported to the hospital.
The 77-year-old driver from Candle Lake was charged under the Traffic Safety Act and will appear in court in the new year.
Police remind the public that due to Christmas, there is a higher number of pedestrians out than normal, as they are doing their shopping. Extra caution needs to be exercised.
Police attended to a south end residence Tuesday to a report of an assault. A 37-year-old Estevan man had left the residence prior to police arriving. He was located a short distance from the residence, driving a vehicle. He was arrested for assault and breaching his probation. He appeared before a justice of the peace, to be remanded for court in Estevan on Dec. 23.
Police received two separate calls in related to child custody disputes. Police are attempting to mediate a resolution between the parties as the dispute is over Christmas celebrations.
A traffic stop was made in central Estevan which resulted in a 47-year-old Estevan man being arrested and charged in connection with an ongoing criminal harassment. An impaired driving investigation was also undertaken, which resulted in the male testing positive for marijuana. He was taken to hospital for further testing with impaired driving charges pending. He was later released on no contact conditions with the victim. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on Feb. 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
Police received several calls Wednesday in relation to multiple phone scams. Police want to remind the public that this is continuously taking place, even during the holiday season.
Members responded to a two-vehicle collision at the corner of 13th Avenue and Fourth Street. No injuries were reported as a result. The matter remains under investigation.
Police arrested a 17-year-old youth for breaching his community supervision order by possessing and consuming non-prescription drugs. He was lodged in detention to be taken to court in the morning.
