The Estevan Public Youth Centre will hold a car wash fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 4-6 p.m. at their parking lot at 1104 Sixth Street.

ESTEVAN — The Estevan Public Youth Centre's members are eager to help the organization with fundraising efforts.

Local teens will host a car wash fundraiser in front of the EPYC at 1104 Sixth Street on Aug. 24 from 4-6 p.m.

"As part of the youth centre, our executive director Adam [Elliot] has been building up a team of student leaders, and they were trying to think of ways to help support the centre. And they came up with doing a carwash," said EPYC board co-chair Patrick Fisher.

The board helped the youths by arranging for the members of the Estevan fire department to be at the event to help and provide water. They also invited Estevan MLA Lori Carr to join the event and help youth with the carwash as well.

"It's a good way not only to raise a little bit of money but to bring awareness to what we do and invite people to the centre. The event is actually at the centre, so while their cars are getting washed up people can come in and see what we're all about," Fisher said.

An ice cream truck will be at the location and has pledged to donate a part of each sale to EPYC.

All money raised will go towards EPYC's day-to-day operations.

People are asked to bring cash for the carwash fundraiser.

Tax receipts can be provided for larger donations.
